Step Up "And ON3" Challenge
Abortion is Murder: Human beings are made in the image of God, set apart and unique from all other creatures. (Genesis 9:6, Genesis 1:27, 1 Corinthians 11:7, James 3:9 Psalm 8:3-8. The child in the womb is as real and valuable a person as those in any other stage of development. (Genesis 25:22, Psalm 139:13-16. Luke 1:15 Luke 1:41). Therefore to unjustly take a life of an image bearer of God is murder. God forbids murder in his law, stating that human beings are valuable, and that to take their life unjustly affords a death sentence. (Genesis 9:6, Exodus 20:13).
We are called to love our neighbours as ourselves, that also includes our unborn neighbours! (Mark 12:30-31)
We are excited about the launch of the new Step Up Project — it officially began yesterday! This initiative is calling Canadians from coast to coast to step up and choose life in the face of abortion. Canada remains one of the only nations in the world that permits abortion at any stage of pregnancy, without federal gestational limits or parental consent requirements. That reality should deeply concern us. Last year alone, nearly 100,000 unborn children lost their lives in our country. These are not statistics — they are human beings, our smallest and most vulnerable neighbours, whose lives were ended before they ever had a chance to be born. This cannot continue.
To bring attention to this critical issue and encourage real change, we are hosting an “AND ONE” Basketball Shootout Competition! One of the most celebrated moments in basketball is when a player drives hard to the hoop, takes contact, gets fouled — and still finishes the shot. The crowd erupts because it represents perseverance, strength, and follow-through. Despite the pressure. Despite the hit. Despite the obstacle — the shot counts. That’s the heart behind this challenge.
In life, not every pregnancy happens under ideal circumstances. It may not have been planned. It may not feel convenient. It may come at a difficult time. But from a biblical worldview, every child conceived is a gift from God — created intentionally, formed with purpose, and bearing His image. The “AND ONE” represents choosing to follow through — choosing life — even when circumstances are hard. It represents courage. It represents honouring God. It represents finishing what has begun. We believe the God-fearing, God-honouring response to conception is to protect and carry that life forward. So we’re stepping onto the court to make a statement. Life matters. Every child matters. And it’s time to step up.
To see life carried forward, we are encouraging mothers across Canada to see their pregnancies through — to carry their child through all three trimesters and give birth. We know this is not always easy. We know the journey can come with fear, uncertainty, and real challenges. But you are not alone. Not only do we want to celebrate your decision to choose life — we want to come alongside you and support you in it. Our heart is not just to speak about life, but to stand with you in practical, tangible ways.
Everyone participating in the competition agrees that life is valuable and worthy of protection. By stepping onto the court, they are doing more than playing a game — they are making a statement. They are showing solidarity with mothers who choose to persevere. They are saying, “We stand with you. We support you. We believe your child matters.” Just like finishing an “AND ONE” through contact takes strength and follow-through, choosing life can require courage and resilience. This event is our way of saying: keep going. Push through. You are supported.
Life is worth protecting — and you are worth supporting.

Follow up Questions
Q1: How does the Step Up Project move beyond messaging into real support?
A: The project pairs advocacy with action—public awareness through the competition and a commitment to stand alongside mothers with encouragement, community, and tangible support rather than words alone.
